Newfields Museum: City as Canvas Sticker Pack

In October of 2017, the Newfields Museum, formerly known as the Indiana Museum of Art hosted City as Canvas: New York City Graffiti from the 70s & 80s. The museum commissioned me to design a 4-pack of stickers to be given away to guests to support and promote the exhibition. This project was a collaboration between myself and Randy Timm.

The collages were the result of conversations between Randy and I about the role of graffiti in preserving the humanity and identity of urban spaces while simultaneously “blighting”them. Tagging and vandalism is often seen as bothersome and ugly yet is an ancient practice of psychogeography, or pushing the emotional experience of space externally.
